    Prepare the card
    Choose the single flashcard, close any notes or resources, place the card face-down in front of you and set a timer for the session.

    Attempt active recall
    Without looking, say or type the answer to the card in one sentence; allow up to two silent attempts but do not peek at the answer.

    Verify and reinforce
    Flip the card, compare your response to the correct answer, then immediately state a one-sentence explanation and create a one-line retrieval cue for next review.
