Connect the scanner to the computer, open the device or scanner utility, record model, serial number and current firmware version with a screenshot or note

Scan 10 representative barcodes from typical labels at normal working distance and record each pass/fail and any error messages

Export or photograph current configuration, ensure scanner has steady power, download the latest firmware for the recorded model and verify checksum

Launch the firmware utility, select the downloaded file, start the update and keep the device connected and powered while saving the update log
