Prepare site and safety check

Confirm generator area is clear and safe, notify operations, wear PPE, set generator selector to OFF or MANUAL as required, and gather tools; record start time placeholder in log.

Measure and record fuel level

Open tank access, read the installed fuel gauge, verify with dipstick or measuring rod if gauge is suspect, convert measurement to liters or percentage, and write the exact value and time in the log.

Inspect battery and electrical connections

Measure battery voltage with the multimeter, inspect terminals for corrosion and tightness, note voltage (e.g., 12.6 V) and any terminal issues in the log.

Perform test-start and observe

Start the generator in test mode, run for 10 minutes while monitoring oil pressure, coolant temperature, exhaust smoke and audible abnormalities, record start time, runtime and any fault codes or anomalies in the log; stop if a critical fault appears.
