Paperback barcode adhesion check

Inspect barcode labels on high-circulation paperbacks before shelving or shipping to catch loose, unscannable, or contaminated labels.

⏱ 30분★ 쉬움
현재

A staged batch of high-circulation paperback copies where some barcode labels may be lifting, covered by debris, or not reliably scannable.

난관

Labels often develop hairline lifts, trapped dust, or adhesive failure that are hard to spot at a glance. Scanning every spine under workflow pressure can be missed.

기대

Each paperback will either have a flat, firmly adhered, scannable barcode label or be marked and recorded for relabeling or repair.

재료
  • • removable adhesive tabs — 50 pieces
도구
  • • handheld barcode scanner or smartphone with scanner app — 1
  • • lint-free cloth — 1
단계
  1. 01
    Set up inspection station
Clear a workspace, arrange the batch in stacks of 10, power on the scanner or open the smartphone scanner app, and place cloth and adhesive tabs within reach.
    ⏱ 5분
  2. 02
    Visual and tactile inspection
Pick up each paperback, inspect the barcode label edges and corners, press each corner for 2 seconds; if any edge lifts more than 1 mm, residue is visible, or the label peels when pressed, place an adhesive tab on the cover and mark it with a short issue code.
    ⏱ 15분
  3. 03
    Scan selected barcodes
Scan every flagged book and every fifth unflagged book to confirm scannability; note any scan failures or mismatches with the book ID and issue code.
    ⏱ 5분
  4. 04
    Triage and record results
Collect all flagged books into a relabel box, enter their IDs and issue codes into the inventory log or spreadsheet, and return non-flagged books to their staging location.
