Handle Feedback

A calm way to receive feedback, understand what matters, and decide what to do next without getting defensive.

Steps
  1. 01
    Listen without responding
Let the feedback finish without explaining, correcting, or justifying yourself so you can hear what’s actually being said.
  2. 02
    Note the main points
Identify the key messages in the feedback instead of focusing on wording, tone, or small details.
  3. 03
    Separate facts from reactions
Distinguish between concrete observations and how the feedback made you feel so they don’t get mixed together.
  4. 04
    Decide what’s useful
Choose which parts of the feedback are worth acting on right now and which parts can be set aside.
  5. 05
    Clarify if needed
Ask a short, neutral question if something is unclear, without turning it into a debate.
  6. 06
    Choose a next step
Decide one small action you’ll take based on the feedback, or consciously decide to take no action for now.
