Get Back on Track

A simple way to regain focus after getting distracted, overwhelmed, or pulled away from what you were doing.

Steps
  1. 01
    Notice that you’re off track
Pause long enough to recognize that you drifted, without judging yourself or explaining why it happened.
  2. 02
    Stop what you’re doing now
End the current distraction cleanly instead of half-finishing or keeping it open in the background.
  3. 03
Remind yourself of the original task
Look back at what you meant to be working on so you don’t restart from memory or assumption.
  4. 04
    Choose a clear re-entry point
Pick one obvious place to continue instead of rethinking the whole task.
  5. 05
    Remove one source of distraction
Close, silence, or move away from a single thing that is most likely to pull you off again.
  6. 06
    Resume gently
Start again without trying to compensate for lost time or pushing harder than necessary.
