Sample catalog searches and logging

Run representative catalog searches and record results to verify search behavior after dataset or UI changes. Use this when you need reproducible evidence of current search responses.

⏱ 30 min ★ Medium
Target

A defined set of sample search queries exists but none of the queries have had their results executed, captured, or logged.

Obstacle

Search results vary by active filters, pagination, and environment; capturing a consistent set of results and recording full context requires following a repeatable checklist.

Expectation

Each sample query has an entry in the results log with top results, hit counts, a timestamped screenshot, and notes about anomalies.

Steps
  1. 01

  2. 02
    Execute each sample search
For each query: run it in the catalog, set page size to 50, apply the agreed default filters, and note the total hit count and first-page result IDs.
    ⏱ 10 min
  3. 03
    Capture artifacts and record metadata
Take a timestamped screenshot of the results page for each query, record execution time, top 10 result IDs, facet counts, and any missing or unexpected items in the log.
    ⏱ 10 min
  4. 04
    Save logs and upload screenshots
Upload screenshots to the project folder, ensure the spreadsheet entries are saved with links to artifacts, and mark the run complete with your name and the run time.
