Target

Workstation is off or in an unknown state and network, printer, and browser session readiness have not been verified.

Obstacle

Stale cached sessions, captive network portals, queued print jobs or printer errors, and delayed boot/update prompts can prevent completing checks and delay handing the station to a user.

Expectation

Workstation is powered to the login screen, network access and latency are confirmed, the printer produces a readable test page, and the browser is opened with a fresh session and homepage loaded.

    Power on and boot verification
    Press the power button and confirm the system reaches the OS login screen within 2 minutes; note any boot errors or update dialogs that block access.

    Sign in and verify system state
    Log in with the guest or designated account, check system time/date and look for software update prompts or warning dialogs that require action within 2 minutes.

    Network connectivity and latency test
    Connect to wired or wireless network, open a browser to https://example.com and confirm it loads within 10 seconds, then ping 8.8.8.8 with 4 packets and confirm average latency under 150 ms.

    Printer power and test page
    Ensure the printer is powered and online, send a test page from the workstation and confirm a legible test page exits the output tray within 90 seconds and there are no paper/toner warnings.

    Prepare browser session
    Open the default browser, sign out any existing accounts or start a private window, clear session data if required, set the homepage, and load required internal and external sites within 3 minutes.
