What's inside
Perform a scheduled walk-through test of emergency exit luminaires and produce a concise fault report; use when records are missing, after power incidents, or during routine monthly checks.
Several emergency exit luminaires across the facility lack recent test records or have unknown operational status.
Some fixtures are mounted at height or behind locked covers requiring a ladder and possibly a second person; intermittent faults may not appear during a brief visual check, so voltage measurements and photos are needed to confirm issues.
Every exit luminaire has a logged test result (pass/fail), measured battery voltages recorded, photos for any defects, and failed units identified for repair.

- 01 Prepare tools and test planOpen the maintenance log and floor plan, list all exit luminaires to test, confirm access permissions, and gather ladder, multimeter, flashlight, camera/tablet.⏱ 5 min
- 02 Perform functional tests on each luminaireAt each exit light, engage the test switch or simulate power loss, observe emergency illumination for 60 seconds, measure battery voltage with the multimeter, and note whether output appears normal or dim.⏱ 15 min
- 03 Document failures and take evidenceFor any unit that fails or is marginal, photograph the fixture and serial, record measured voltages and visible damage, and mark the location and severity on the inspection form.⏱ 6 min
- 04 Restore systems and file fault reportReturn test switches to normal, close access panels, update the maintenance log with pass/fail entries and measurements, attach photos, and send a prioritized fault report to facilities for scheduling repairs.⏱ 4 min
