Laptop lending kit inspection and recharge

Quickly verify each lending kit's contents and battery state, and start recharging any laptops before they return to inventory or are loaned out.

⏱ 30 min ★ Easy
Target

Several laptop lending kits are stored with unknown battery levels, accessory completeness, and inconsistent inventory notes.

Obstacle

Kits are spread across storage and some chargers are missing or mismatched, which slows identification of units needing charge. Outlet availability is limited, so several laptops cannot be charged at once without organizing power access.

Expectation

Kits that need power are plugged in and labeled charging, chargers and accessories are confirmed in the inventory, and any missing or damaged items are recorded for follow-up.

Tools
  • • Power strip — 1
  • • Label stickers — 1 sheet
Steps
  1. 01
Gather kits and clear charging area
Collect all lending kits to a single table near a wall outlet and clear at least one square meter so chargers and laptops can be laid out.
    ⏱ 5 min
  2. 02
    Verify accessories and record condition
Open each kit, confirm charger, cable, and case are present, read and log the laptop serial number, and note any visible damage or missing items in the inventory sheet.
    ⏱ 7 min
  3. 03
Power on and check battery health
Turn on each laptop, read the current battery percentage and the OS battery report (or runtime estimate), and flag any battery below 50% for charging or further review.
    ⏱ 6 min
  4. 04
    Connect chargers and start charging
Plug chargers into the power strip, connect to laptops flagged for charging, confirm each charging LED or OS indicator is active, and write the charging start time on a label attached to the kit.
    ⏱ 6 min
  5. 05
Store charging kits and log follow-ups
Place charging kits on a designated shelf with labels visible, update the inventory to show which units are charging and which need replacement parts, and set a calendar reminder to recheck charging status after four hours.
