    Power down and access
    Turn off and unplug the reader, open the access panels, remove any film, don gloves, and use the flashlight to inspect lens, platen, and roller areas for visible debris.

    Remove loose dust
    Use compressed air in short controlled bursts and the soft-bristle brush to remove loose dust and particles from the feed path, guides, rollers, and lens housing, collecting debris on a paper towel.

    Clean lens and platen
    Moisten one lint-free wipe with lens cleaner and make 4–6 slow circular passes across the lens until no visible residue remains, dry with a clean wipe, and clean platen edges with cotton swabs.

    Clean rollers and run test feed
    Wipe feed rollers with a lint-free wipe dampened with cleaner while rotating them to remove sticky buildup, reassemble covers, then run a 3-foot test strip or short film segment and observe 10 frames for streaks, alignment, and smooth advance.

    Restore power and record outcome
    Power the unit back on, confirm image improvement on screen, photograph or note any remaining issues with timestamps, and store cleaning materials.
