Target

The target device has not been checked out yet and there is no checkout entry for it in today's log.

Obstacle

The admin portal shows internal device IDs that differ from the smartphone's IMEI/MAC, making it hard to match the physical device to the log entry; intermittent mobile data dropouts may also cause false negatives during the functional test.

Expectation

The device is checked out, the hotspot provides internet to a client device, and the checkout log contains a timestamped entry with device identifiers and attached evidence.

Steps

    Prepare test devices and record identifiers
    Charge the smartphone to at least 50%, insert the test SIM if needed, power on the client laptop, and record the smartphone IMEI and Wi-Fi MAC in a note.

    Create checkout in admin portal
    Log into the admin portal, locate the device using available identifiers, assign it to the test user or account, set checkout start time, and capture a confirmation screenshot.

    Enable hotspot and run connectivity tests
    On the smartphone enable the Wi-Fi hotspot with the configured SSID/password, connect the client laptop, load three distinct web pages and transfer a 5 MB file to confirm data transfer and note signal and any failures.

    Update checkout log and ticket
    Open the official checkout log or database, add an entry with device IMEI/MAC, user, start time, expected return, attach screenshots and test notes, and set ticket status to 'checked out'.

    Post-test cleanup and audit confirmation
    Turn off the hotspot, disconnect the client, return the device to storage state, verify the new log entry appears in the audit view, and close the test notes.
