Outdoor Ramp Sweep and Anti-Slip Check

Remove debris and verify anti-slip surfaces to reduce slip hazards; perform after heavy use, windy or wet weather, or before scheduled inspections.

⏱ 30 min ★ Easy
Target

Ramp surface has visible leaves, sand, small gravel, and unknown condition of anti-slip strips or grit coatings with no recent inspection record.

Obstacle

Compacted sand and grime collect in grooves and can hide peeling or loss of granules; edges and fasteners are hard to assess from standing height and require low-angle probing and photos.

Expectation

Ramp is cleared of loose debris and surface residue, anti-slip strips and coatings are checked for peeling or loose fasteners, and any defects are documented with photos and temporary safety controls in place.

Steps
  1. 01
    Sweep and remove loose debris
Sweep the entire ramp from top to bottom with the push broom, collect leaves, gravel and debris into a dustpan or bag, and clear all visible loose material from edges and drainage channels.
    ⏱ 10 min
  2. 02
Spot scrub and rinse high-traffic areas
Use the stiff deck brush with water to scrub compacted sand and grime in grooves and textured areas, then rinse with the hose or bucket to flush residue off the ramp surface.
    ⏱ 8 min
  3. 03
    Inspect anti-slip treatments and fasteners
Walk the ramp at a low angle with flashlight, probe anti-slip tape and grit coatings with the putty knife to detect peeling, missing granules, loose screws or delamination, and note each defect location.
    ⏱ 6 min
  4. 04
Document defects and apply temporary controls
Photograph each defect and label photos with location, place safety cones or tape over hazard areas or wet spots, and record required repairs on a short checklist for follow-up.
