Target

The kiosk is out of receipt paper or producing faint/partial receipts, and the printer compartment is closed.

Obstacle

The paper roll orientation can be unclear and the feed may jam on insertion; torn bits or residue in the feed path or cutter can prevent the paper from advancing or printing cleanly.

Expectation

A fresh paper roll is installed with the leading edge fed correctly, the compartment closed and locked, and a successful test receipt prints with legible text.

Steps

Confirm status and gather supplies

Check the kiosk display or admin panel for 'paper out' or printer error, power the kiosk to idle, and place the new paper roll and service key on a clean surface.

Open compartment and remove old roll

Use the service key to unlock and open the printer compartment, remove the empty roll and any loose paper or core pieces, and set them aside for disposal.

Inspect and clear the feed path

Visually inspect the paper path, platen and cutter for torn bits or debris, remove visible scraps by hand or with a dry lint-free cloth, and ensure the cutter moves freely.

Load new roll with correct orientation

Place the new roll so the thermal (dark) side faces the print head, pull a 5–10 cm leading edge out, lay it across the feed slot and gently advance until it catches in the feed mechanism.

Close, run test print, and verify

Close and lock the compartment, trigger a test print from the kiosk admin menu or press the printer test button, then confirm the receipt prints complete, legible text and the cutter performs a clean cut; if not, recheck feed and repeat.
