Prepare workspace and tools
Clear a 60 cm square area, position 3–8 sorting trays in a row and place the puzzle box within arm's reach under good light.

Pull out edges and corners
Scan pieces in the box and on the table, remove every piece with at least one straight edge into an 'edges' tray and place the four corner pieces into a separate small tray.

Sort by dominant color or pattern
Pick up remaining pieces one at a time and drop each into a tray labeled for its dominant color/pattern (e.g., sky blue, foliage green, brick red), aiming for 6–8 piles.

Quick check and consolidate piles
Run through each pile to remove mis-sorted edge pieces, merge tiny piles into the closest color group, and arrange trays in a logical order for assembly.
