Target

Some exterior or interior doors and windows may be open or unlocked, non-essential lights may remain on, the alarm may be unset, and maintenance issues are unrecorded.

Obstacle

The building spans multiple zones with different lock types and alarm panels, keys and access cards are grouped on a single set, and several inspection areas are dimly lit which slows verification.

Expectation

All doors and windows are closed and locked, non-essential lights are turned off, the alarm is armed, and any maintenance issues are logged with location and a brief description.

Steps

Secure doors and windows

Follow the floor checklist; at each listed door and window, close it, engage the lock, verify the latch by pulling, and mark any that fail to latch in the log.

Switch off lights and check sensors

Turn off all non-essential light switches on the floor list, check motion-sensor zones remain idle, and note any fixtures or sensors that stay on or act abnormally.

Arm alarm panels

Visit each alarm panel listed for the zones, confirm there are no fault indicators, enter the arm code or use the access app, and confirm each panel displays 'armed'.

Log maintenance issues and finalize report

Using the mobile device, create entries for each issue with location, a one-sentence description, and a photo; submit or flag high-priority items and sign off the end-of-day log.
