Target

The main building master keyring has mixed and worn tamper-tags, several tag serials are not recorded in the digital inventory, and no recent photo exists of the complete key set.

Obstacle

Some existing tamper-tags are brittle or missing serials and key rings are tightly closed, making tag removal and replacement fiddly; the inventory system lacks a dedicated tag-serial field so numbers must be entered consistently in the notes/photo section.

Expectation

Every key on the master ring has a readable tamper tag attached, each tag serial is recorded in the digital inventory with a timestamp and photo, and the inventory entry shows the operator's initials.

Steps

Gather keyring and tools

Bring the master keyring to a well-lit surface, collect replacement tamper-tags, labels, smartphone, and keyring opener; set a visible workspace for keys and removed tags.

Document current tags

Lay out keys in order, photograph the full ring, and record each key name and current tag serial (or note missing/illegible) into the asset inventory app or notes with a timestamp.

Replace tamper-tags and label temporarily

Using the opener, remove damaged tags and attach new tamper-evident tags one key at a time; apply adhesive number labels when needed so key identity remains consistent during transfer.

Update inventory and verify

Enter new tag serials into the inventory entry, upload the final photo of the keyring, add your initials and timestamp, then re-check each key/tag match and stow tools.
