What's inside

Daily haiku

Capture a single moment from your day in a concise three-line haiku; use this when you want a short reflective writing break.

⏱ 30 min★ Easy
Target

No haiku written yet and only scattered mental notes or brief reminders about moments from the day.

Obstacle

I can't decide which moment to focus on. I also lose track of syllable counts while trying to keep the language simple.

Expectation

A three-line haiku following a 5-7-5 syllable structure that captures one concrete moment and is saved in my notes with the date.

Steps
  1. 01
    Gather moments
List 6-10 concrete moments, images, or short phrases from your day in a note or on paper to create options to choose from.
    ⏱ 5 min
  2. 02
    Draft haiku
Pick one moment and write a first three-line draft aiming for a 5-7-5 syllable pattern, focusing on a single clear image and one sensory detail per line.
    ⏱ 10 min
  3. 03
    Edit syllables
Read the draft aloud, count syllables for each line, replace or trim words to reach 5-7-5 while keeping language concrete and specific.
    ⏱ 10 min
  4. 04
    Save and reflect
Copy the final haiku into your notes with the date, read it aloud once more, and write a one-sentence note on why you chose that moment.
