Steps

Collect clothes from around the home
Walk through each room and gather loose clothing, shoes, and textiles into a laundry basket or pile; check bedrooms, bathroom, living room, car, and hampers and empty them into the basket.

Sort into keep, donate, repair, and trash
Work item-by-item and place each piece into one of four piles: keep (fits and was worn in the past year), donate (good condition, wearable), repair (missing button or seam), trash (stains/holes beyond repair); do not leave items undecided for more than 5 seconds.

Clean, fold, and bag donation items
Set aside any donation items that are dirty for laundry or pretreat stains now; fold clean items and place them into the sturdy donation bag or box, sealing the bag when full.

Label and arrange drop-off or pickup
Write 'Donation' and a brief contents note on the bag with the marker, take a photo of the bag and a short item list on your phone, then put the bag in your car or open the donation center website/app and schedule drop-off or pickup within seven days.
