Steps
- 01Choose message and layoutPick the greeting text and decide orientation, margins, and whether the greeting will be centered, left-aligned, or diagonal; mark the card edges and centerline with a ruler.⏱ 4 min
- 02Practice chosen letteringOn scrap paper, write the greeting at the intended size three times using your chosen tool(s) to test spacing and letterforms; select the best style and note adjustments.⏱ 5 min
- 03Sketch layout on the cardLightly draw baseline, x-height, and spacing guides on the card with a pencil and sketch the final composition to confirm placement.⏱ 6 min
- 04Ink the final lettering and decorationUsing the fine-liner and/or brush pen, trace the pencil sketch with steady strokes, adding one small decorative accent (dot cluster, leaf, or underline) to balance the composition.⏱ 9 min
- 05Erase guides and add finishing touchesAfter ink dries, gently erase pencil lines and add any tiny embellishments or corrections to spacing with the pen.⏱ 6 min
