Target

Photos and GPS/GX files from the recent ride are scattered across phone and device storage with no selected highlights or descriptive notes.

Obstacle

Camera filenames and timestamps don’t show the ride sequence clearly, the GPS file is unlabelled or in a different location, and you can’t recall which photo matches each turn or landmark without reviewing.

Expectation

A single dated folder contains 8–12 renamed key photos, the GPX/GX file, and a 2–4 sentence route summary listing distance, key turns (numbered), surface, hazards, and elevation gain.

Steps

Gather ride files
Open your photo app and file manager, copy all ride photos plus the GPX/GX file into a working folder named YYYY-MM-DD-route and place originals in an archive subfolder.

Select and rename photos
Scan photos in chronological order and pick 8–12 that show start, key turns, landmarks, surfaces or hazards, then rename each selected file with an ordered prefix and short label (e.g., 01-Start, 03-LeftTurnMainSt).

Write route summary
Write a 2–4 sentence summary that states start/end points, total distance, elevation gain, numbered key turns with short directions, surface type, and any hazards or steep sections.

Export and store
Attach or move the GPX/GX into the folder, save the summary as route.txt or route.md, upload the folder to your cloud or ride log, and add a tag or filename including the route date and a short name.
