Target

I have not yet taken or saved a photo of an interesting shadow to my shadow album; my camera or phone is available but no candidate image has been chosen.

Obstacle

Shadows and lighting can change rapidly, so the shape may disappear before I frame and focus; camera auto-exposure and autofocus may underexpose or miss the dark areas.

Expectation

A sharp, well-composed photo of an interesting shadow is saved in the shadow album with a short caption and a location tag.

Steps

Scout and pick a shadow
Spend up to 5 minutes scanning the area and choose the best of three candidate shadows based on strong contrast and an interesting shape.

Set up camera and composition
Turn on the camera, enable grid, lock focus and exposure on the shadow area, adjust exposure compensation if needed, and position the camera within 1–3 meters for the desired framing.

Capture multiple shots
Take eight photos: three wide-frame, three mid-distance, and two close-detail shots; review each immediately and retake any that are blurred or poorly exposed.

Save and annotate to shadow album
Import the best photo to the shadow album or create the album if missing, add a one-line caption and a location tag, and delete rejected duplicates.
