Start with the fixed points
Pick the start, the end, and the one or two stops everyone has asked for. Lock those first so the route fills in around them instead of you rebuilding it later.
Book the scarce things early
Campsites, rentals, and popular attractions sell out. Reserve those before fine-tuning daily drive times, since you can always adjust the in-between legs.
Plan drive time in short blocks
Cap each driving day at about four to five hours with kids. Note where you will stop for food and bathrooms so the schedule holds up on the road.

Response Rules
