Start with the room you use least
Begin with the guest room or storage closet so the everyday rooms stay usable while you pack. Label every box with its destination room and a short list of contents on two sides.
Keep the essentials box separate
Set aside one box for first-night items: toiletries, chargers, a change of clothes, basic kitchenware, and the paperwork you need. Load it last and keep it with you rather than on the truck.
Check progress against the moving date
If you are behind by the midpoint, drop non-essential decor and pack books and seasonal clothes first. Finish the kitchen last because you need it until the final day.
